Submit Your Play to Multiple Programs

This morning, I did a Google search for the term "youth playwriting" and was pleased with the search results. It appears that a number of young playwriting programs are running and updating lists of similar opportunities available to the young writers within the organizations' eligibility area. Obviously, I love this. When I ran the New Jersey Young Playwrights Festival, several of our writers had success in other (typically national) venues. This is great on the surface, but also provides additional insight into work from a variety of theatre artists. I encourage every young playwright to submit their script to multiple programs as often as possible. And, if the program allows for it, dust off those old submissions. Just because a play was written last year doesn't mean it needs to live in the past. Maybe this is the year it gets picked up somewhere.

Keep writing!
